Inside the Vehicle
1. Fit protection pack
2. Check operation of instruments, controls, wipers washers and horn
3. Check operation of all interior and exterior lights and option equipment
4. Check seat belts for damage, wear and latching buckles
Check pressure sensing hoses and vacuum pipes

Outside the Vehicle
5. Note any body damage, scratches or dents (including wheel trims)
6. Check condition of tyres, including spare and inflation pressures
7. Check operation of door hinges, check straps and locks : lubricate as necessary
8. Check operation of bonnet lock and safety catch : lubricate as necessary
9. Torque the wheel nuts/bolts to specification with the wheels on the ground
10. Check luggage compartment lamp operation

Under the Bonnet
11. Check levels of brake, battery and washer fluids : top up as necessary
12. Check the levels of power steering and clutch fluids : top up as necessary
13. Top up coolant levels as necessary. Check anti-freeze content
14. Battery : Check terminals for security, grease as necessary
15. Check tension and condition of auxiliary drive belts
16. Check valve clearances : adjust as necessary
17. Check air filter element
18. Check condition of spark plugs : replace as necessary
19. Clean and check condition of distributor cap
20. Check HT leads for security and condition
21. Clean and check condition of the ignition coil
22. Check LT leads to the coil for security and condition
23. Visually check for fluid leaks and hoses for deterioration
24. Renew odour and pollen filters
25. Change engine oil and renew oil filter & sump plug washer
26. Check gearbox, axle and transaxle fluid levels : top up as necessary
27. Check braking system for leaks and hoses for chafing
28. Check brake pads and lining for wear
29. Check rear brakes : adjust as necessary
30. Remove wheels & brake drums, inspect operations
31. Check, lubricate and adjust handbrake linkage
32. Check clutch pedal free travel : adjust as necessary
33. Check drive shaft gaiters & covers for security, condition and leaks
34. Check steering linkage for damage and wear
35. Check steering system gaiters & covers for security, condition and leaks
36. Check suspension system for damage and wear
37. Inspect condition of exhaust and check for any leaks
38. Drain fuel filter (Diesel only)
39. Check general condition of the underbody

Road Test
40. Carried out road test

After Road Test (with engine still hot)
41. Check automatic transmission fluid level : top up as necessary
42. Check engine for hot starting / auto. choke returns to fully off position
43. Check smoke emission visual (Diesel only)
